NEWS HIGHLIGHTS 2017

When we reflect on 2017 it was once again a year of significance in the history of Barnton. The team managed to successfully go-live with eight implementations in a diverse range of environments, which emphasizes our experience, commitment and capability.

The rollout at RCL Foods continued. In March their Pies business unit went live with BPlanning, followed by Beverages at the end of April.   The Pie setup facilitates the interactive planning of baked- and unbaked pies in weekly buckets. Beverages on the other hand are short shelf life products, which requires daily planning to derive the factory production plan before production starts in the morning. Here the focus is on the ability to allocate full flavour batches to individual SKU’s, whereas at pies the main planning constraint is to remain within pack line capacity.

In parallel with the RCL rollouts, two other implementations progressed at an impressive pace, with demand and supply planning going live at Premier Foods during July, followed by a successful implementation of BForecasting at Ascendis Health in August.

The development of BScheduling concluded in July 2017.   The software facilitates detailed plant scheduling, with initial focus on solving the brewery scheduling problem for SABMiller in Africa.   Their need is two-fold:  firstly the scheduling of finished goods by pack line, and subsequently the scheduling of the upstream brewing process.   Additional to this the solution calculates packaging and brewing raw materials requirements. We went live at Zambian Breweries in August, Kgalagadi Breweries in Botswana during October, and Cervejas de Moçambique in December 2017.

Finally, the cherry on top of yet another very successful year, was when were awarded the title of Logistics Service Provider of the Year by Famous Brands.  This massive honour is dedicated to our entire team of highly dedicated people.
